How to use the SGPA Calculator
Enter included courses
Enter positive credits and grade points for each counted course. Explicitly exclude pass/fail, audit or repeated attempts that your institution does not count.
Check the weighted result
Calculate and inspect each credit × point contribution and total included credits. Display rounding does not alter intermediate calculations.
How this tool works
For included courses, SGPA = Σ(credits × points) / Σ(credits). Excluded rows contribute neither credits nor points. Mappings reject blank or case-equivalent duplicate labels and point values outside the selected scale.

Limits, edge cases, and troubleshooting
Use numeric grade points from a transcript or build your own mapping. A grade label with no mapping is an error rather than an assumed zero. Zero-credit courses must be explicitly excluded.
- The interface supports up to 100 courses and 30 custom grade labels.
- Numeric totals must remain within supported finite arithmetic bounds.
- Repeated-attempt forgiveness, subject pass rules and GPA-to-percentage conversion are not inferred.
- Only display rounding is applied; your institution may specify a different method.
When to use another workflow
Use your institution's official calculator or transcript when special regulations, course replacement or non-credit-weighted formulas apply.

Implementation checked on 2026-09-16. Unit tests and local browser checks covered 74/9 = 8.222222…, custom scales, included and excluded courses, zero-point grades and invalid mappings including case-equivalent labels. Formula output and narrow layouts were checked.

Does this use one university's SGPA rules?
No. It calculates a credit-weighted mean from your selected scale and included courses. Check your institution's course inclusion, repeated-attempt and rounding rules before using the result.
Are failed courses excluded automatically?
No. An included course with zero points contributes its credits and zero weighted points. Exclude a course only when your official rules exclude it.
